Welcome! This is my first post on a brand new blog layout and website design. I am excited to continue to practice my website/SEO skills, develop my personal brand, and explore/write about topics that I’m interested in – especially my faith, emerging technologies, and integrated communications.
1. Blog Overview and Vision
Essentially, my vision for this blog is to explore ideas and topics I otherwise wouldn’t be able to – and to keep track of it. I would like to be able to see consistent growth in my career and document progress! Honestly, if I had time, I would also love to test out different web designs, strategies, and content marketing initiatives as well.
Primarily, I will be focusing on my Christian faith, integrated communications, and emerging technologies and trends.
2. Website Rework
Creating a new personal website with updated hosting can be a challenge. Originally, this site was designed using an all-in-one Squarespace solution that included hosting, domain name, and design services. Squarespace was great and included plenty of beginner-friendly features, but I wanted to transition to a more customizable, reliable, blog-centered platform. With experience using WordPress to design and manage other websites (FWF & Maplewood Church), and other projects coming soon (Elevation Roofing), I decided to choose to grow my website design/layout/SEO skillset on WordPress. WordPress powers 40% of all websites with a 64.1% market share among sites with a CMS (Content Management System). For more information on website design and other services, visit my services page.
3. Career Goals
Honestly, I do not have any major career goals. I plan on working as hard as I can, unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23) with a vision to serve and lead my family well. During my first six months at Fifth Wheel Freight, I have developed a passion for public relations, copywriting, and website design/content marketing. Looking back, I wish I had double-minored in digital studies and writing. In the future, I plan to continue to explore all options and have the following dreams and things I would like to do:
- Pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Relations & Corporate Communications at Georgetown University
- Start a gospel-centered coffee shop in Grand Rapids with my fiance
- Work with an emerging-tech company on an innovative solution to a problem
- Plant a church and attend Grand Rapids Theological Seminary for a Master of Divinity
- Be a realtor and build relationships with clients
Overall, I am looking forward to this new website design with the opportunity to write freely about a variety of topics – anything from faith and Jesus to emerging technologies and the metaverse, I am hoping this blog allows me to explore ideas in my free time.
